About Us

Sabala Organisation

We work towards women empowerment, gender decriminalisation and economic empowerment in Vijayapura, Karnataka.

Sabala is committed to the empowerment of women and works tirelessly on issues affecting women and girls. We believe that educating a woman strengthens her family and community. Our initiatives address gender discrimination, girl child education, the Devadasi system, access to finance, skill development, and managerial training. We advocate for women’s ownership and control of resources, recognizing that true empowerment comes when women can manage and benefit from what they own. Currently, only 13% of women own property, and we encourage participation through women’s organizations such as Self-Help Groups, cooperative societies, and farmer producer companies to promote decision-making, group economic activities, and profit sharing. Understanding the challenges in rural areas, where families often undervalue girl child education, only 8% of Dalit girls and 12% of minority girls pursue higher education, Sabala motivates families to prioritize education for their daughters. Our current focus includes skill development, livelihood enhancement, and supporting rural artisans to build sustainable income and self-reliance.
